“Shaping the destiny of our nation”: Youth Leadership Conference, Ghana

On Saturday, July 31st FLEX (the Foundation for Leadership Excellence) held its first Youth Leadership conference in Accra. FLEX is an organization devoted to mentoring individuals on social responsibility as well as career, personal, entrepreneurial and leadership development. The event was held in order to create leadership opportunities for youth as well as to network, mentor and provide new understanding and fundamental principles in leadership development with the goal of making youth proactive in their daily lives.
The Ghanaian youth were urged to network amongst themselves as well as develop mentorship programs. Among the youth in attendance were students from Ghana School of the Blind in Akropong. Among the speakers were Mr. Albert Ocran, CEO of Combert Impressions, who said “Leadership is not about the position or title one holds, but how one influences and motivates”.
Mr. John Kissi, president of FLEX, announced that they would be establishing state-of-the-art skills development centers in all ten regions of the country to foster the growth of soft (basic) skills. He also called on organizations, institutions and philanthropists to help fund further conferences like this to empower Ghana's youth. For additional information click here
