6th UNESCO Youth Forum, Oct 1-3, Paris, France
The 6th UNESCO Youth Forum will take place at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris from 1 to 3 October 2009. It will be an integral part of the 35th UNESCO General Conference. Youth participants will be given the opportunity to exchange views, share experiences, reflect together and identify common opportunities and challenges on the Forum’s two themes.
The main theme of the Forum will be:
• “Investing out of the crisis: towards a partnership between UNESCO and youth organizations”.
This theme will be complemented by a cross-cutting theme on:
• “Youth participation - UNESCO Youth Forum, a long term approach”.
A final report with key recommendations made by youth participants on the two themes will be presented at the UNESCO General Conference.
Youth delegates will be nominated by UNESCO Member States as members of their official delegations. Criteria for the selection of delegates are as follows:
• Age (between 18 and 24 years);
• Membership in a representative youth organization and involvement in youth-related issues at the community level;
• Gender parity;
• Representation of indigenous peoples is encouraged.
Youth organizations, international and national NGOs, and UN agencies will also be invited as observers.
