Background paper on the UN thematic debate 11-12 Feb 2008 on Addressing Climate Change

Climate change has risen to the very top of the international policy agenda. The Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change concludes that global warming is "unequivocally" the result of human activities. The scientific consensus is clear, now we need to focus on what to do about it.
