Subject: Presentation of our Proposal to participate in Forums at the XX Volunteers Worldwide Conference IAVE
Proposal for Forum No. 1: Corporate Volunteering
Title: Vecinos en Acción: Compartiendo Valores. (In English - Neighbors in Action: sharing values)
Summary:
Banco General a company highly recognized for its commitment with the community and for its efforts to incorporate its Human Resource in this task. Since 2001 and following the signing of the United Nation’s Global Pact, we started our Corporate Volunteers Program called Neighbors in Action.
- Neighbors in Action is a Volunteers Program based on 4 fundamental pillars:
- Our Human Resource, people who work everyday on the volunteers work.
- Our Organization, who provides the administrative support, and actively enforces the values that are strongly present in our organization culture.
- Our Neighbors in Action Foundation, related to Non Profit Organizations and Executor of the social contributions
- Our community represented by these Non Profit Organizations that we support.
After 6 years of continuous work, we have obtained important results such as:
- The number of volunteers has increased by 139% since 2001.
- 44% of our Employees are registered in this Program.
- The average of activities for each Volunteer is 5
- 84% of our Volunteers report activities in this Program.
Throughout these years, our Program has received important distinctions and outstanding performances nationally as well as internationally; some examples are: Our participation on the III International Learning Gathering in which we were invited by the Global Pact Office, and the Projects Forum organized by Panama’s Global Pact Network: “Alliances to Strengthen Corporate Social Responsibility”.
Neighbors in Action is an important source of learning due to the challenges we have faced, as well as for the administrative support that the Bank provides to it. In regards to its internal organization, it counts with a strong foundation that supports the achievements of goals.: Board of Directors, budget assignment, alliance development, Systems of Recognition, Data Base.
