IYOC

In the context of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union, the European Volunteer Center-CEV is convening its second Symposium 2010, titled ‘Volunteering as a means of empowerment and social inclusion - A bridge between the European Years 2010 and 2011’.
The symposium is organized in Brussels by four CEV Belgian member organizations, from 6 to 8 December 2010, with the intention of connecting the European Year of the fight against poverty and social exclusion 2010 to the European Year of Volunteering (EYV) 2011.
This event will bring together 200 professionals from the volunteer sector as well as experts in the fight against poverty and social exclusion. Decision-makers and people experiencing poverty will also be able to show the empowering potential of volunteering as well as debating in order to take steps to harness the voluntary sector in a mutual effort toward the eradication of poverty and social exclusion in European societies.
The event programmed will include an expert panel, workshops, a dialogue café, spotlights on good practices and participation in the official launch of the European Commission EYV 2011 Tour, among other activities.
