CIVICUS World Assembly Conference 2012, 3–7 September, Montréal, Canada

The theme of the 11th CIVICUS World Assembly in Montréal, Canada from 3-7 September 2012, was "Defining a new social contract – Making the future together". The main event was preceded by the CIVICUS Youth Assembly on 3-4 September and the preconference regional meetings on 4 September. 

In addition to plenary sessions and learning exchanges at the Citizen Café, this year’s World Assembly programme was divided into 3 engaging thematic tracks providing space for in-depth discussion:

• Changing nations through citizens
• Building partnerships for social innovation
• Redefining global governance
