Global Entrepreneurship Week: A global movement unleashing new ideas
From November 15-21st, millions of young people around the world will join the movement to highlight and further the potential of youth entrepreneurs everywhere. Students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders, employees, NGO leaders, government leaders and many others will participate in a range of activities, from online to face-to-face, and from large-scale competitions to intimate networking gatherings. One example is the Clean Tech Open Ideas Competition, which seeks out the best early-stage clean technology ideas and helps turn them into successful companies. Ideas can range from revolutionary ways to generate clean energy, to better ways to filter water, to policy initiatives to encourage government support of clean tech innovation—anything that fosters a healthy natural environment. The grand prize winner will receive start-up funds and other assistance to help start a viable business.
Achieving an economy’s entrepreneurial potential requires every part of society to be mobilized. Entrepreneurs must act as role models for young people by sharing their stories, mentoring and encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs. Global Entrepreneurship Week is a great opportunity to showcase what thousands of organizations already do to help foster a culture that embraces innovation, imagination and creativity.
