IAVE 21st World Volunteer Conference Workshop 116: Maximising the Power of One: The Passion Strategy
This workshop zeroes in on the passion of the co-presenters which let them to initiate programmes that cater to marginalised communities such as wildlife, which Louis Ng of ACRES champions. Then there is Braema Mathi, serial social entrepreneur who has initiated programmes that champion the cause of migrant workers, and is an advocate for human and women's rights.
This workshop explores how passion can drive individuals and communities to reach milestones considered otherwise unachievable. Participants will look at and question stereotypical beliefs about a passion-based approach to volunteerism, before examing how a combination of passion and clear strategy frequently empowers advocates and organizations to go beyond the barriers generally considered to be "realistic." The workshop will focus in advocacy when dealing with the importance of passion as a part of ethos and strategy.
