IAVE 21st World Volunteer Conference Workshop 122: Maximising the Power of One: The Platform Strategy
One man can only do so much. Christine Laimer shares how she and her husband used their skills in the logistics business to establish Food from the Heart, a distribution platform mobilising thousands of volunteers. Ashoka Fellow Anshu Gupta, who founded GOONJ which won India's NGO of the Year Award, followed a smilar strategy in leveraging on different networks. In doing so, they each created a platform from which other goods and services could be distributed as well, maximising their distribution networks.
This workshop takes a look at how a solid distribution platform can not only provide timely and targeted aid to those in need but also improve the running and growth potential of volunteer organizations. Participatants will learn about the benefits and challenges of leveraging partner networks to distribute goods and services, while also evaluating the growth potential which strategically implemented platforms can bring to small volunteer organizations.
