IAVE 21st World Volunteer Conference Workshop 315: Effecting Small Change, Making a Big Difference
For communities or organizations to move from good to great, there is a need to recognise that effecting small changes can lead to big differences.
Youths are the future of our society. NPOs must cater to the needs of youths and younger professionals and develop targeted programmes for the youths today to meet the challenges of tomorrow. This session will discuss the core principles and challenges and will be useful to NPOs which develop programmes for ethnic minority youth.
Likewise, effecting change on leadership by working through government can make a big difference in society. An adaptive leadership challenge is relevant to all parties in civil society in defending the common space for access to information and for expression. This is done through lobbying the government, managing conflict, handling competing interest groups and reassessing values. The greatest challenges of all - mindset and culture change.
