IAVE 21st World Volunteer Conference Workshop 515: Pro Bono Skilled Volunteers
Finding access to existing pro bono services might be difficult, and increasingly, NGOs play that important role to link up those in need with professional firms willing to provide such services. This service is increasingly seen in volunteerism, to tap onto the specific skills of professionals to provide services to those who are unable to afford them. Pro bono activities are not just about giving and taking, but also about the transfer of professional volunteers' talents and skills to beneficiaries.
This session introduces and discusses the existing challenges of pro bono within today's landscape. The session will be joined by a direct beneficiary community group of pro bono services to provide their perspective on volunteer management as well as to better identify the needs and roles of each party. This session also examines, with a more academic angle, the successes and failures of implementation of pro bono programmes and their implications on beneficiaries.
