IYV+10: The momentum to recognize the power of youth volunteering worldwide

IYOC

The International Year of Volunteering +10 will officially launch on December 2nd, 2010, in Bonn, Germany and will be closely followed by the 21st IAVE World Volunteer Conference, Jan 24th-27th.
Celebrating 10 years since the first IYV, the year will include many events to inspire and recognize volunteerism. The IAVE Youth Office in Catalonia is looking forward to the opportunity to harness the enthusiasm the IYV+10 will bring to advance the global youth volunteer movement.
One of the youth-focused initiatives that IAVE has launched for IYV+10 is the Volunteer Video Competition  which is a great way for youth to express themselves through technology, showcase their volunteer efforts and inspire other youth with their particular vision for 2011. This is the time to show how far youth volunteers have come in the past ten years and how large our dreams are for the future.
In addition, the IYV+10 will be celebrated at IAVE’s World Youth Conference, the pre-conference in Singapore from the 21st-23rd of January 2011. Entitled “Volunteering to Change the World”, the conference will bring together young leaders and volunteers from all over the world, introduce hands-on service projects, creative workshops, training modules and a program inviting diverse opportunities for networking, intercultural learning and a chance to celebrate the ideals inherent to IAVE and voluntary organizations worldwide.
IYV+10 is an opportunity to promote and strengthen all the amazing things NGOs, volunteers and corporations have done in the last ten years within the context of non-profit work and service. It’s also a way to honor the accomplishments made by and during the first IYV. IAVE is marking its 40th anniversary and celebrating not only that, but looking forward to what we can all do to further volunteerism in the next ten years and the decades following. Youth issues are a vital part of the work accomplished during the past decade, including the establishment of the IAVE Youth Office in Catalonia. We urge you to join IAVE’s conferences, recognize your youth volunteers and find out how you and your organizations can celebrate IYV+10 with us! Check here
This is the time for IAVE members and friends to post their events and activities on the World Volunteer Web site or send them to youthinfo@iave.org to collect them and post them in the IAVE site
