International Congress: Young People Building the World

IAVE Youth Office

From October14th-16th 2010 the International Congress Young People are Building the World will take place in Madrid, Spain.

"Given the usual perspective that treats young people as irrelevant consumers, victims of the actions of the public authorities and society or as a source of problems (..) this congress will try to get to know young people as social and political players, with the capacity to transform the reality they live in but also to recognize the limitations that they face.”

The congress, held in Spanish, is organized by the Foundation UNED and INJUVE in collaboration with other organizations and Private Foundations. The objective is to gather young people from various countries and amass the contributions of young people and professionals who are working with and for youth. In the congress, research will be presented noting many different aspects of young people´s lives.

The young participants, members of organizations and youth movements, will be able to present their personal experience, communicate and establish a dialogue with their peers as well as with with international experts. The experts will lead presentations and working groups where participants will discuss and reflect on each of the areas of the Congress. The titles of the four panels are as follows: “Personal and effective gender relations”; “Social innovations and creative policies”; “the transformation of the community environment: from users to actors” and “are the youth policy models and programs up to date?”
