This June, the Rwanda Volunteer Network (V-NET Rwanda) will be hosting the fourth IAVE Africa Regional Volunteer Conference. In close collaboration with the United Nations Volunteers program in Rwanda and VSO, the conference aims to bring together volunteers in Africa for a 4-day conference in Kigali, Rwanda.
This year the theme of the conference is “The Role of Youth Volunteers in National Poverty Reduction and Development Strategies.” It is a continent-wide meeting on volunteering, with presentations from various experts in volunteering in Africa and elsewhere in the world. It features the Dialogue on NGO-Corporate Volunteer Partnerships, with leaders from continental and global companies and international NGOs focused on the partnership response to youth unemployment and their role in national development through volunteering. It includes the continental convening of Volunteer Centers, NGOs, FBOs and CBOs as well as Government Entities.
The Conference will challenge, inform, energize and promote young people involved in volunteer effort. Opportunities for delegates to participate in volunteer activities with a host of organizations is a feature of the event. With a particular focus on social entrepreneurship, digital tools for changes and volunteering as a pathway to employment, the Africa Regional Conference will provide a platform for the participants of the continent to exchange ideas, work together in a collaborative way, and ultimately redefine 21st century volunteering!
