COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND

Our Global Network of Volunteering Leadership organizations are on the frontlines of helping their communities respond to COVID-19.

In response to the outbreak, IAVE has launched the IAVE COVID-19 Response Fund to support volunteer-led preparedness, containment, response and recovery activities. This Fund will help ensure volunteering organizations have resources to keep critical volunteering efforts strong in this time of such great need.

Overview of the COVID-19 Response Fund

The IAVE COVID-19 Response Fund will focus on supporting global volunteer leadership organizations working directly to respond to the pandemic among the most vulnerable populations in order to help build their capacity for response.

These will include organizations focused on youth, older adults, people with disabilities and other communities vulnerable to the physical health, mental health and economic impacts of the pandemic including:

  • Supporting volunteer healthcare workers: Many volunteering leadership organizations lack funds for capital purchases of masks, gowns, gloves and other essential personal protective equipment. These items help prevent the infection of essential medical staff who are at increased risk because of their close contact with people who may be infected.
  • Supporting quarantined and especially vulnerable individuals: The use of quarantines is crucial in helping control the spread of any infectious disease, including COVID-19. Volunteer leadership organizations are helping provide key services (shopping for necessities, etc.) for those unable to do so themselves.
  • Supporting training and hygiene promotion activities: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) are key to limiting the spread of any infection, especially those that are spread by close contact. Increasing access to WASH resources will help limit the spread of coronavirus and other infections. Supporting volunteer training on WASH measures will help limit the spread of all viruses and other infections.

Information for Donors

The International Association for Volunteer Effort is actively seeking donors to our COVID-19 Response Fund. Your donations will be targeted to volunteer leadership organizations working directly to respond to the pandemic among the most vulnerable populations – including youth, older adults, people with disabilities and other communities vulnerable to physical health, mental health and economic impact of the pandemic.

Currently, the fund is providing operational grants for volunteer leadership organizations with an impact-oriented project focused on COVID-19 support. An example might include support for health and safety training of volunteers, or the creation of a volunteer identification scheme.

Information for Grantees

Grants are small, one-time only, cash awards of under $500 given to a volunteering organization for an impact-oriented project focused on COVID-19 support. An example might include support for health and safety training of volunteers, or the creation of a volunteer identification scheme.

To limit the burden on nonprofits, there is no formal application at this time. Instead we are asking interested organizations to fill out a short form providing basic information about your organization and work to address the basic needs of vulnerable populations impacted by the pandemic.

We encourage you to complete our online form if you are a volunteering organization that is authentically connected and providing coronavirus related to volunteering for the most vulnerable populations including seniors, children, etc.

The application for grants is now closed.
