Volunteer Management in a Crisis

June 18, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

In the event of a disaster or emergency volunteers are often needed to provide practical and emotional support as they aid victims, support the delivery of government/public services and help rebuild communities. Usually such situations impact on a local area, a country, a region of the world where natural disasters or the disaster of war require an emergency response. COVID-19 has brought an emergency situation to a whole new scale as we seek to respond to a global health crisis where potentially anyone can be affected. Volunteer management is key to achieving the effective involvement of volunteers. So what does good volunteer management in a crisis look like? What needs to be in place from day one? In particular what has happened in relation to volunteering and COVID-19, what has worked well when involving volunteers and what could we have done better? Join Denise Hayward, CEO of Volunteer Now in Northern Ireland, and Sarah Henderson, Resilience Advisor for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), as they share a wealth of information and experience on how to involve volunteers in emergency situations, delivering effective volunteer management in a crisis.
