
Prior to her career in the civil society sector, Joyce worked at a financial institution. Since transitioning to the volunteering sector in 2004, she has been working more than 20 years in international networking related to volunteering. Joyce has held key positions at Volunteering Korea; the statutory umbrella organization representing volunteering in Korea, and at Volunteering Culture Korea, the leading private sector organization in the field.
Currently, Joyce serves as Chief Director of the Global Volunteering Cooperation (GVC KOREA), a NGO she established in 2017. In this role, she is responsible for organizing overseas study visits for civic organizations, coordinating public interest activities, providing civic education, and offering consulting services.
Joyce has played a pivotal role in international cooperation and development as a leader in Korea’s volunteering sector. She served as an advisory committee member for the 2024 IAVE Conference in Busan and is a Lifetime Member of IAVE. She is actively engaged as the IAVE Asia Pacific Regional Manager, with a particular emphasis on fostering networks throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Joyce holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea.
