Executive Director, Augsburg Volunteer Center
Wolfgang has spent the last 40 years working to advance volunteer engagement both from paid and volunteer leadership positions in nonprofit associations.
As the Executive Director of the Augsburg Volunteer Center since its beginning in 1997, he has had the opportunity to promote, support and develop volunteering at the local, regional and national level in Germany – as co-founder of the Augsburger Tafel food bank and as co-founder of the Augsburg Community Foundation, and as treasurer for Bagfa, the German association of volunteer centers.
At the European level he was co-founder and president of the European Forum for Applied Criminal Politics since 2007 with focus on volunteering in prisons and has implemented European-funded projects, working on cross-border partnerships in tune with innovative developments around volunteering and collaboration with the European Volunteer Center.
Under his leadership the Augsburg Volunteer Center was the host organization for IAVE’s 25th World Volunteer Conference in 2018.
