In 2023, IAVE maintained a strategic focus on youth volunteering and the challenges facing young people. We hosted a four-part webinar series on Youth Volunteering and Social Change. The IAVE Global Network of Volunteering Leadership Organizations (GNVL) also contributed insights and evidence from their regional work.
To further this effort, IAVE organized an additional webinar with GNVL member Volunteer Scotland, highlighting findings from its Young People in Scotland Survey 2022.
Key topics included:
- Factors behind the decline in youth volunteering (2019–2022)
- Demographic differences by age, gender, health, deprivation, and faith
- The remarkable contribution of Scotland’s youth, including 9.7 million volunteer hours in 2022
A panel discussion explored global perspectives and the implications for volunteering policy and practice. The seminar was aimed at youth volunteering leaders, policymakers, practitioners, educators, and others interested in youth engagement.
