Associate Director, People Giving, Matching and Volunteering, Novartis

Candidate Statement

Born in Paris, I have lived there for the first two decades of my life, where I have studied organic Chemistry before moving to the UK to work as a research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry for a decade.

In 2015, after a life-changing skills-based volunteering experience in the UNICEF Country office of Burundi (East Africa), I made the professional transition to the corporate volunteering space, first in London with GSK, and then, 5 years ago, I relocated to Basel, Switzerland, joining the Volunteering team at Novartis.

Over the last 10 years, I have gained roles of expanded seniority in the corporate volunteering space. Today, having managed an award-winning program, multi-stakeholders’ partnership, and designed innovative skills-based volunteering interventions, I am a thought leader in Corporate Volunteering and Employee Giving, leveraging corporate employees’ thirst for meaning to create social impact via a triple win for individuals, society, and corporations.

I have been involved with IAVE for over a decade, from attending the IAVE European Conference on Corporate Volunteering in Zurich, Switzerland, before I had yet to officially start in the GSK volunteering team, to regularly participating in the IAVE’s Global Corporate Volunteer Council (GCVC) as a company representative, to take part in the recent World Volunteer Conference in Abu Dhabi and Busan.

I am married with no children, have a lively one-year-old dog called Sherlock, like long walks in the Alps, traveling, and cooking from scratch.

Making a difference to society and positively impacting people’s lives is what motivates me. I truly believe in the power of volunteering to change the world.

My passion for using corporate employees’ skills, time, and passion to make a difference to less privileged communities across the world, either at home or internationally, has been the major driver of my life and career over the last 10 years.

I would feel privileged to offer my time and expertise in service of the purposeful IAVE mission by acting as its Europe Regional Representative.

My strengths:

  • Global mindset and consciousness, well-read, corporate strategy aware, passionate about the healthcare industry’s purpose and mission
  • Sincere, straight-talker, able to speak up and challenge in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Digitally savvy and with strong problem-solving skills, the ability to cut through complexity and provide effective solutions
  • Having an eye for detail, yet able to keep a big picture perspective, and being able to pull myself back from the nitty-gritty
  • Ability & patience to listen to everyone’s views with an open mind without making a decision/judgment beforehand
  • Ability to get along with all people, coach them & keep calm even when circumstances are not perfect

Awards:

  • GSK’s PULSE Programme won the 2018 IAVE Inspiring Practice Award
  • Novartis’ Giving & Volunteering wins ACCP’s 2023 Corporate Social Impact Team of the Year Award
