Perdita Wingerter

Germany
Managing Director and Founder, Gemeinsam leben & lernen in Europa (Living and Learning Together Within Europe)

Candidate Statement

As the founder and director of Gemeinsam leben & lernen in Europa, a grassroots NGO committed to social cohesion and inclusive volunteering, I have led numerous impactful projects at local and regional levels, despite limited resources. Our initiatives – ranging from volunteer language mentoring and democracy education to anti-racism programs – have empowered diverse communities and strengthened civic participation.

At the European and international level, I have coordinated Erasmus+ projects in partnership with 54 NGOs across 17 countries. These efforts have fostered knowledge exchange, developed high-quality training programs for volunteer coordinators, and promoted volunteering as a tool for social transformation. As a qualified E-Trainer, I am particularly committed to expanding accessible online learning opportunities within the global volunteer movement.

My involvement with IAVE includes speaking at conferences in Augsburg and Abu Dhabi, and contributing to the Strategic Plan as an engaged member organization. These experiences have deepened my understanding of IAVE’s mission and broadened my perspective on the evolving challenges and opportunities in global volunteering.

I would bring to the IAVE Board a strong connection to the European volunteer community, practical expertise in educational program development, and skills in fundraising through proposal writing. While I am not connected to major funders or corporations, I have a track record of securing support for innovative, community-driven initiatives. My leadership style is inclusive and collaborative, grounded in a deep belief in the power of local action and international solidarity.

I envision my role on the Board as a connector, educator, and advocate – contributing to IAVE’s global impact by sharing our educational tools, strengthening regional networks, and championing volunteerism as a force for equity and the common good.
