Call for Research Papers for the 2027 World Volunteer Conference

IAVE and our conference partner Ghadan invite researchers, practitioners, and policy specialists to submit research papers for the IAVE World Volunteer Conference 2027, taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in late 2027.

Under the conference theme Reimagining Volunteering for Greater Social Impact through Innovation and Transformation, the call seeks evidence-informed research that deepens understanding of volunteering and strengthens policy and practice worldwide.

Five conference themes

Papers may address one or more of the following:

  1. Investing in Volunteering as a Strategic Asset in Delivering Social Progress

  2. Engaging Future Generations in Volunteering

  3. Driving the Social Impact of Volunteering through AI and Digital Transformation

  4. Adding Value to Volunteering through Partnership and Collaboration

  5. Increasing Recognition for Volunteering and Rethinking Volunteer Measurement

Papers should draw on existing evidence, published research, policy literature, evaluations, datasets, and case studies from 2022 to 2026, rather than new primary data collection.

Who should submit

Academics, independent and postgraduate researchers, research institutes, civil society and volunteer-involving organizations, public agencies, corporate volunteering programs, and cross-sector partnerships. Collaborative papers that bring research and practice together are strongly encouraged.

How to apply

Submissions run in two stages. First, an abstract of up to 350 words, due September 18, 2026. Selected applicants are then invited to submit a full paper.
